Mark asks…
Best way to invest a few thousand dollars in medium-risk investments?
I have next to zero experience in investing, since I am just out of high school. I have around 2000-4000 dollars I am willing to invest in medium-risk investments. Although I’ve done a bit of research myself, I’d like to get a rundown of what is safe yet shows good growth. I know high-risk would involve small-cap “penny” stocks, while for a safer bet there are Mutual Funds. Yet my cash is limited, and I’m not willing to do anything risky, such as margin accounts for stocks. Can anyone please explain what I should really do with my money for the best growth?

I’m a novice just like you.. But I would recommend you invest it in stocks.. Open an account with Zecco trading and buy 4 lots of stocks totaling 1000 dollars per lot and watch that grow..
You def. Wont lose your money..
Stocks I recommend
AAPL (apple)
DRYS
TBSI
RIMM
Those stocks are sure to grow within the year..

Limited knowledge on 401K and what to invest in?
Basically I have very limited knowledge on stocks and investments. I am unsure on what elections to choose for my 401K. I am looking for some easy directions on a good investment and a bad investment. I have been reviewing the sites for my investment opportunities and just do not know what I am looking for. Any help is appreciated
Sorry as I said I have limited knowledge I am 30. Thanks All

In your 401k, the money sits in a money market account until you make investment decisions. The money market account will, over time, just keep things safe and in place. As for an investment, you would do well to put it all in the S&P500 Index Fund, if they have it, and just forget it. You may also need to make a choice that says each monthly contribution should go to the S&P500 Index Fund. The S&P500 Index has, with dividends and market value, an average annual return of 10% over the last 30 years. I doubt very much that any other choice you have can show that good a record.
The fund represents 500 of the better corporations in America, so you would be fully diversified in just about every business you can think of. You would own railroads, trucking, banks, drug companies, insurance, computers, food, oil, housing, manufacturing, retail stores, mining, aircraft, airlines, glass, paint, hotels, resorts, auto parts, clothing, cosmetics, health care, utilities and on and on. You cannot get any more diversified than that. Again, be sure they know you want contributions to go straight to the S&P500 Index Fund. Make some choices about life style and contribute as much of your paycheck as you can. Over time, this is a good choice and a safe bet for a nice retirement.
Among the companies you would own in the S&P500 fund are Google, Microsoft, Pennys, Radio Shack, Sara Lee, Southwest Airlines, Time Warner, Walt Disney and Wells Fargo. Do a web search on S&P500 companies list for all of them.

Why is Insia’e Economy Not Growing As Fast As China’s Or Getting The Investments?
India has a billion pluc population, tons of natural resources and arable land, a multi ethnic population, lots of highly educated individuals, and greater democracy than china. However, they are not growing nearly as fast, have a much smalelr export base, getting very limited foreign direct investment, and dosn;t appear to be the emrging power of asia,
Why can’t India replicate the economic success in chian despite the fact its more free and democratic.

admin answers:
Corruption and a complete lack of infrastructure.
China has a lot less corruption and although their infrastructure isn’t great, they have much better infrastructure.
Lets not kid ourselves though… India is the second fastest growing economy in the world…
As for democracy… I wouldn’t say it’s a plus on its own. One party states can work just fine, though democracy is always best in the long run.
A third reason could be:
India was more of a tech sector economy…. Everything was put into getting jobs in the Tech sector. They tried to skip manufacturing
Well, China started off with a manufacturing base and is now moving to the technology sector.
Reality is in India, there are not enough jobs for the people, they didn’t start with manufacturing like China so they are in the process of revisiting manufacturing before moving on to technology.
